IMPLANTOLOGY
In our days the majority of people pay much attention to the way they look and spend a lot of time for care about their appearance. In this connection state of teeth plays very important role. It does not only influence the attractiveness but can even drastically shake faith in oneself, without mentioning health of any person. If you have lost a tooth or it should happen soon your problem can be solved with the help of implantologic treatment irrespective of your age.
Implantology deals with teeth restoration with the help of tooth implants. Implantology is a direction in stomatology which has been successfully developing during thirty years. By today implant stomatology has received wide spreading in all developed countries of the world.
Unfortunately, it is impossible to renew functions and look of lost tooth with the help of prosthesis. The technology of tooth implantation came more close to the solution of this problem.
Implantation allows:
- to restore lost tooth without smoothing healthy neighboring teeth as it is made by placing dental bridge;
- to create additional support and put stationary denture in those cases when without implant it is possible to use only removable denture – less functional construction which, besides, also causes difficult psychological examination for the patient;
- to create support for improvement of denture fixation.
Tooth implant consists of two parts: support – artificial tooth root which is a titanic core with thread which is surgically fixed in the bone of the jaw of the upper part of the implant and strengthened to the support and is an accurate tooth imitation.
Usually implants are set in several stages. At first the support part of the implant – artificial titanic tooth root is twisted into jaw bone. During engraftment of support part cyst forms around it and holds it tight in the jaw bone. This process can take from 3 to 6 months. After that corona (often metal-ceramic) is fixed to the support.
Sometimes in 5-10% of cases implant does not engraft. In the case of graft rejection by prosthesis we return the patient the whole sum he/she has paid before or offer to conduct one more free engraftment.
Implantology offers interesting solution in case of full absence of teeth on one or both jaws (adentia). Till recent time the only solution of this problem was creation of full removable prosthesis. Now patient can come to Master-StoM and he’ll be fixed 5-8 implants and static bridge prosthesis over them.
Unfortunately, not always implantation can be made. For conduction of implantation, first of all, it is necessary for the patient to have healthy gums, enough height of jaw bone crista and also patient should not have general illnesses which can hinder normal healing. Only doctor can define the possibility of implantation after the examination and conduction of additional investigation.
